Location

Daphne Cottage is situated in the heart of the village of Mawnan Smith, some 2 miles from the northern banks of the Helford River and a perfect location from which to explore both the South and North coasts of West Cornwall.

The nearest town is Falmouth just 15 minutes away.

Most visitors to this region spend their time messing about in boats on the river, walking the SW coast path, enjoying excellent food at the many pubs, cafes and restaurants, and exploring the world famous ‘valley’ gardens.  For those looking for day trips, St Ives, Lands End, The Lizard, Porthleven and Mousehole are all easily accessible by car.

Whilst absolutely possible to navigate around South West Cornwall on public transport, coming by car (or hiring a car at Newquay Airport after flying down) is advisable to make the most of this beautiful part of Cornwall.

By Train

The nearest mainline train station is at Truro with services running from up country every half hour or so.  Truro to Mawnan Smith is around 25 minutes in a taxi.  See Getting About for taxi numbers.

By Plane

Newquay Airport is around 45 minutes from Mawnan Smith.  There are daily flights from Gatwick and seasonal flights from other destinations including Ireland (Cork).  See Newquay Airport’s Website for more information.

The Cottage

 

The house is set back from the road providing excellent privacy with a secluded back garden, but right next door to the Post Office and 50 yards from the Red Lion pub and Cornish Maid cafe, all of which are open all year round.
